The cyclindric illusions below were drawn by István Orosz, a talented Hungarian artist. Although he specializes in many different forms of art, today I will only cover some of his cylindrical mirror works. Similar to numerous other works using anamorphosis, this art form unveils at a specific perspective.

These are all beautifully done but most remind me of something from Silent Hill.

ReplyDeleteAwesome.... Really looks like it's a question of mathematics. The science of computer graphics often involves projecting 3D objects onto a 2D plane, and reflections being carried out through a complex method of ray tracing. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the same principles are being applied here, unless the creation is done with the reflective cylinder in place and simply drawing through trial and error. I imagine not.
