Strangest Ebay Auction

That's right folks, there was an actual nuclear missile silo that went up for sale on Ebay with a price tag up to $1.5 million. This missile complex was originally designed to withstand nuclear attacks and house Titan 1 nuclear missiles. The nuclear missile was not included in this deal of course =).

This missile base is located in central Washington and comprises of 57 acres in the $1.5 million listing. More specifically included in the deal are 16 underground buildings. Out of the 16 underground structures, three are 160 feet high missile silos, three equipment terminals that are each four story high, two antenna silos, a control dome and a power dome.

Seeing how this complex was built to survive nuclear attacks, this would be an ideal home for survivalist groups or cults. One could easily imagine Dr. Evil or a James Bond villain operating out of a nuclear missile base such as this one.

Thinking in a more realistic sense, this former Titan 1 missile base would probably be better off converted into a luxury home similar to the Atlas missile silo. Parts of the missile complex are 50 years old and would likely need a renovation in order to be usable. There was an estimate mentioned by BBC that it would take several million to completely renovate. If someone only plans to use a few of the buildings, the price range of renovating are in the hundred thousands. The remaining images are from the Atlas F missile site.

13 Bizarre Contact Designs

Some of you may have already seen these pricey special contacts that range around $100 to $1000 per pair. They work wonders at Halloween parties and are commonly used in production of movies for that extra look. A frequently asked question about such lens is how they literally affect vision. Most of these reduce sight to tunnel vision so they are generally just used during special occasions. As for safety, they are FDA approved.

The set of contacts below are from (here). The contact lens pattern immediately below resembles a goat's eye and is titled as such. The Goat Eye lens or is it Hypnotoad?!

On the left and right respectively: Red Sclera, Hemorrhage. There was actually a design with a little less blood and titled "Bloodshot". I have a hard time imaging anyone paying $300 to look like they had a horrible day at work and are sleep deprived.
On the left and right respectively: Mirrored Riddick, Cat Eye. It is unfortunate that the site selling the Mirrored Riddick lens restricted them to film producers only. They look very cool but perhaps they are restricted for safety reasons.
The next set of contacts are from (here). From left to right are designs: Patchwork, Flames, Skeletal Teeth. Anyone else think the Patchwork lens is comparable to the Google Chrome icon?
From left to right are designs: Smiley, Rave Blue, Medusa. The Rave Blue definitely holds potential for ravers out there.
Most of the lens variants displayed so far are limited to special occasions like Halloween or parties but Swarovski lens are targeted towards more frequent use. They have embedded crystals in the lens to improve looks by functioning similar to jewelry.

Using nanotechnology, engineers at the University of Washington have developed experimental contacts with circuitry and lighting. They aim to create artificial displays in the contact lens to aid the disabled, driving, or just function as a way to surf the web. Of course there may be other purposes in the future such as military uses or perhaps superhuman visuals. Surreal & Abstract Ingenuity (David Fuhrer)

David Fuhrer is an up and coming artistic talent who was born 1985, in Bern, Switzerland. In his childhood, he was inspired by Disney movies and the careers of astronauts. As he grew up, he cites gaming and countless artists as huge influences on his works. His earlier works were more abstract but he mentions that his productions have become more focused over time.

In his interview (here), David Fuhrer stated that a single illustration could take months to complete.

David Fuhrer never went to any schools as he wears a shirt stating "my school is life". He is an incredible self taught artist and flash developer with immense creativity. Illustrations such as the Big Tree or Metal Heart showcases his imagination.

Surrealistic Brilliance (Jacek Yerka)

Jacek Yerka was born in Toruń, Poland, in 1952. He grew up with an artistic family and wanted to differentiate his own art style from his parents' artistic techniques. Jacek Yerka mentioned that he faced pressure from professors to change his techniques to suit the more contemporary styles that were more popular at the time. He persevered with his own artistic style that was greatly influenced by Hieronymus Bosch, Pieter Bruegel, Hugo van der Goes and Jan van Eyck. Jacek Yerka became a full fledged artist in 1980 and from then on has won multiple international awards.


Jacek Yerka's classical Flemish painting technique is full of incredible details that accentuates the surrealistic themes of his work. The artistic pieces appear as though they came straight out of a wildly bizarre dream.
