Cylindrical Anamorphosis

This type of anamorphic art involves using a cylindrical mirror in the middle of the art piece to display a completely different image through the reflection. I am curious to how the artist carries out creating the curvature required to produce the appropriate reflection in the cylindric mirror. The video displays several anamorphic illusions using the cylindrical mirror.

The cyclindric illusions below were drawn by István Orosz, a talented Hungarian artist. Although he specializes in many different forms of art, today I will only cover some of his cylindrical mirror works. Similar to numerous other works using anamorphosis, this art form unveils at a specific perspective.

The Well (1997)

Anamorphosis with Column (1994)

Anna draws a circle (1998)

Cupola (1990)

Dionysos Anamorphosis (2007)

The Dyonisos Theatre (1986)

Self-portrait with Albert (2002)

Edgar Allan Poe: The Raven (2007)

Jules Verne (1983)

These are all beautifully done but most remind me of something from Silent Hill.

Awesome.... Really looks like it's a question of mathematics. The science of computer graphics often involves projecting 3D objects onto a 2D plane, and reflections being carried out through a complex method of ray tracing. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the same principles are being applied here, unless the creation is done with the reflective cylinder in place and simply drawing through trial and error. I imagine not.

I've seen some of these from Escher (I think.)
It seems like a good way to go mad, trying to paint that way!
